Frequently Asked Questions

Will the DVD play in my DVD player?
Most likely yes.  We use a format that is compatible with the majority of newer DVD players.  If you’re unsure we can send you a sample.

How long with the DVD last?
DVD’s are projected to last for at least 100 years.  They do not deteriorate like VHS tapes or printed photos.  Your memories will last a lifetime.

What is the turnaround time for a DVD photo slideshow?
Once we have collected all the information on how you’d like your slideshow setup it generally takes between 2-3 weeks.  If you need it sooner please let us know and we’ll try to accommodate you.

Are the photo slideshows custom made?
Each slideshow is setup exactly as you request it.  Music is picked by you including transitions, titles, length and theme. Only you know what will work best for your memories and audience.

How long is each photo on the screen?
There is no set amount of time.  Generally photos will be displayed for about 5 seconds.  If you’d like to pan or zoom in on the picture it will be displayed longer.

How do I provide music for my slideshow?
Due to copyright laws we are unable to provide music for you.  We can however purchase individual songs on your behalf.  You can also provide us with compilation CD that you’ve created of music you own or numerous CD’s and we can extract the songs you would like on the soundtrack.

Do songs have to be played in full or can they be cropped?
Each song can be exactly how long you want it to be.  Generally people pick either the beginning of the song or their favorite part and after about 2 minutes they fade it out into a new song.  By changing songs frequently it spices up the slideshow and provides more musical variety.  It is completely up to you.

How long should my slideshow be?
It all depends on how many pictures and songs you’d like to include.  Generally 20 minutes is the best length for showing at a party or event.   Slideshows can go up to 60 minutes.

How does the slideshow work on my DVD player?
We use professional DVD authoring software, so your DVD will look and function just like one bought from the store.  It will have a main title with chapters that will allow you to jump to a particular group of pictures.  You can easily navigate throughout your photo slideshow using your remote control to stop, play or pause the show or you can just allow it to play through without your intervention.

Which photos should I choose to include in my slideshow?
Choose a mix between close ups and group photos.  If the project covers a long span choose photos that show the most important stages in someones life or key moments within the timeframe that you are working with.

Should my photos be horizontal or vertical?
More horizontal shots than vertical shots are more pleasing to the eye.  Horizontal shots fill the entire frame where vertical shots will have black spaces on either side of the photo.  It is completely up to you.  If you have more memorable vertical shots then you won’t even notice the difference because you’ll be so enthralled in the slideshow.

What are transitions?
Transitions are way the slideshow moves from one picture to the next.  We offer a wide variety of transitions from your traditional fade to funky and unique transitions.  What transitions you should use all depends on the mood you’d like to create.

Can we scan photos for you?
At this time we can only accept digital photos.  They can be either taken by a digital camera or scanned in by yourself or another service.  If you only have print photos please let us know and we’ll work with you to have them scanned into a digital format.

How do I send my digital photos and music?
No need to worry, we will walk you through this process.

Can I add voice messages to my project?

Can I use my professionally taken photos in my slideshow?
If the photographer holds a copyright to the photos then prior approval is required.  Dream Big Creations can not be held liable for copyright violations.

Can I see my slideshow before you make the final DVD?
Yes,  we provide 1 rough draft version at anytime before we make the final DVD.  If you have internet access we can provide rough draft on the Internet.  We will not make the final DVD until we have your approval on the rough draft.  This way you can get a feel of the picture placement, transitions and music.  If its not the way you’d like we will fix it.  Note: The rough draft’s quality is greatly reduced so you can play it over the Internet.  Your final DVD will be professional quality.
